Two men from Guatemala are facing charges for prolonged sexual abuse of a 7-year-old girl in Florida, authorities say.
The West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) released shocking details about the case after taking the suspects into custody on Wednesday.
Authorities were alerted by the victim’s babysitter after the girl said she had been molested “every day” over a long period of time.
“The investigation revealed that the child’s father, 26-year-old Josue David Mendez-Sales, and his roommate, 23-year-old Pablo Neftaly Cobon-Mendez, repeatedly sexually battered a child under the age of 12,” WPBPD explained a press release.
“Both suspects admitted to the repeated abuse during interviews with investigators. They were taken into custody without incident.”

The child showed signs of additional physical abuse, and Mendez-Sales told authorities he had struck her with a belt.
“Mendez-Sales stated he had intercourse with the girl about five times, but could not detail specifics because he always did so when intoxicated. He said the first time it happened was about three months ago, and admitted to hitting the child with a belt as a form of discipline this past weekend,” WPTV reports, citing arrest documents.
Mendez-Sales has been charged with five counts of sexual battery on a person less than 12 years of age and one count of child abuse without great bodily harm.
Cobon-Mendez faces two counts of sexual battery on a person less than 12 years of age.

No information about the suspects’ immigration statuses has been made public and their relationship to each other remains unclear.
