An illegal alien from Venezuela is facing a slew of charges following a hit-and-run collision that left a preteen pedestrian in serious condition in Pennsylvania this week, authorities say.
The shocking incident unfolded at around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon in downtown Charleroi.
The victim, who is under the age of 13, was crossing a street when a speeding vehicle struck him in the roadway and continued onward, according to a criminal complaint reviewed by local media.
Another juvenile at the scene took down the suspect’s license plate and investigators corroborated the vehicle description after reviewing surveillance footage.
The victim was transported to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh with head and arms injuries but is expected to survive.
The suspect’s brother reportedly arrived on-scene and told police he had convinced his sister to return and speak to authorities.
Yorgelis Alexandra Matos-Bravo, 29, came a short time later and reportedly admitting to hitting the child.
Matos-Bravo was arrested and charged with aggravated assault – victim less than 13, recklessly endangering another person, accident involving damage to a vehicle or property, disorderly conduct, reckless driving, careless driving, and speeding.
She was issued a license by the sanctuary state of Illinois, despite being in the U.S. illegally.
Matos-Bravo entered the U.S. via Texas in 2022 and was subsequently released into the interior by the Biden regime, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on Friday.
“This criminal illegal alien now faces SEVEN charges after a hit-and-run that injured a young child in Pennsylvania. She would not have been in our country in the first place if it weren’t for the Biden Administration’s open borders, and she wouldn’t have been on our roads if it weren’t for J.B. Pritzker’s sanctuary Illinois issuing her a driver’s license,” said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin.
“This was a completely avoidable crime that was enabled by the reckless, America Last policies of sanctuary politicians. ICE has lodged a detainer asking officials in Washington County to cooperate with us and make sure this criminal is never released onto our streets again. I’m praying for the boy’s speedy recovery.”
