A teenage boy was shot dead while trying to protect his mother from being raped by an illegal alien in Kentucky over the weekend, authorities say.
The horrifying string of events unfolded on Sunday in Morehead, a city in Rowan County.
At around 2:30 a.m., Gildardo Amandor-Martinez, 36, arrived an apartment he shared with his girlfriend, Aleida Lopez, after going to a bar with a friend, according to arrest documents reviewed by Fox 56.
Amandor-Martinez reportedly demanded to have sexual relations with Lopez, but she declined, prompting her boyfriend to angrily grab and bite her.
The suspect then allegedly forced Lopez onto a bed and tried to rape her, at which point her teenage son, identified as 15-year-old Luis Jocsan Nanez Lopez, entered the room and asked if he should call police.
Lopez declined and Amandor-Martinez proceeded to get dressed.
During an ensuing argument between the two adults, Amandor-Martinez reportedly retrieved a firearm and fired it at least three times through a bedroom door.
Local police arrived at the apartment around 4:20 a.m. and found Luis suffering from a gunshot wound to the cheek.
The boy was declared deceased at the scene.
Lopez’s daughter, identified as Naomi Agrical Nunez, was also struck during the shooting but is expected to survive.
Amandor-Martinez was arrested and charged with murder, first-degree attempted rape, and first-degree assault.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) later revealed Amandor-Martinez is a citizen of Mexico who illegally crossed the southern border at least three times during 2021, successfully slipping into the U.S. undetected on his third attempt.

“15-year-old Luis Lopez died trying to save his mother from this criminal illegal alien who was attempting to rape her. Gildardo Amandor-Martinez is a rapist and cold-blooded killer who should have never been in this country,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“The Biden administration’s open-border policies allowed this monster to walk American streets and commit these evil crimes, including murder, assault, and attempted rape, against a mother and her children. ICE has placed an arrest detainer to ensure Amandor-Martinez will not be released onto America’s streets and allowed to terrorize American families again.”
