A man who shot a woman then took his own life in the sanctuary state of California was an illegal alien who crossed Joe Biden’s open southern border, federal authorities say.
The horrifying incident unfolded just before 3 p.m. on Sept. 8 in Sacramento.
Shalini Thakur, 38, was dropped off at her vehicle in a shopping center parking lot moments before she was accosted by 22-year-old Rohit Rohit, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).
When Thakur attempted to run away, Rohit shot her several times before walking up to her and shooting her in the head as she lay on the ground, SCSO says.
Deputies quickly located Rohit’s vehicle after he fled the scene.
When they attempted to pull him over, Rohit reportedly slammed on his brakes and came to a stop.
Deputies found Rohit deceased inside the vehicle from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, SCSO says.
Investigators learned that Rohit had been stalking the victim since at least January when she discovered an AirTag that had been placed under the hood of her car.
On one occasion, Rohit deflated one of her tires and then followed her to work so he could “offer assistance,” SCSO says.
Rohit even managed to make a copy of the victim’s apartment key and reportedly entered her residence on at least one occasion while she was sleeping.
Deputies recommended Thakur obtain a restraining order against Rohit, but she initially declined.
However, she eventually filed for a restraining order in May.
In July, deputies took a report for a restraining order violation after Rohit dropped groceries off at her front door unannounced.
On Friday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed Rohit is an illegal alien from India who was unleashed into the U.S. after crossing the southern border into Arizona in August 2023.
“This illegal alien from India harassed, stalked, and then killed a 38-year-old woman in California, and then took his own life when police caught up to him,” said a DHS Spokesperson.
“This tragedy would have been completely avoided if it weren’t for the Biden Administration RELEASING this killer into our country. Sanctuary politicians must put an end to reckless policies that play Russian roulette with American lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and her family.”
