Two employees of a California medical facility are facing significant charges for allegedly assaulting and impeding federal immigration officers during the apprehension of an illegal alien last month.
On July 8, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers were following a suspicious truck carrying three males while conducting targeted enforcement operations in San Bernardino County.
The officers approach the vehicle after it stopped, prompting two of the men to flee on foot.
“One of the fleeing men – an illegal alien from Honduras – was partially detained near the surgery center’s front entrance before he resisted and pulled away, causing both him and the ICE officer to fall to the ground,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California explained in a press release.
“Shortly afterward, a medical staffer helped the alien off the ground and helped pull him away from the officer. The alien proceeded inside the surgery center and was pursued by the ICE officer, who eventually stopped him.”
Witness footage of the incident circulated on social media at the time.
