Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized a load of cocaine worth nearly $2 million from a vehicle crossing the southern border last week.
The significant bust unfolded on Aug. 4 at the Del Rio International Bridge in South Texas.
A 2013 Dodge Durango driven by a 29-year-old U.S. citizen was referred for secondary inspection.
Using a non-intrusive inspection system, officers located 49 packages containing a total of 129.67 pounds of “alleged cocaine” hidden in the panels of the vehicle, CBP explained in a press release.
The street value of the cocaine was estimated at $1,731,425.
The narcotics were confiscated and the male driver was arrested.

“This significant seizure is a direct result of the unwavering vigilance and commitment of our CBP officers,” said Port Director Liliana Flores, Del Rio Port of Entry.
“This is a clear example of how our investment in technology and training directly impacts our ability to secure the border and protect our communities.”
CBP has seized well over 28,000 pounds of cocaine worth more than $400 million in Fiscal Year 2026.
