Colombian Theft Gang Arrested for Burglarizing Nearly 40 Asian Households in Oregon

A gang of Colombian nationals have been arrested in connection with dozens of home burglaries across the state of Oregon in recent months.

On Monday, the Tigard Police Department (TPD) announced updates in an investigation that has been widening in scope since late last year.

On Feb. 2, various law enforcement agencies executed warrants at multiple locations in Oregon, including a home in Bend where suspects were staying.

Four male and female suspects ranging in age from 26 to 33 were taken into custody.

They were identified as Maria Castro-Gamboa, Fabio Vergara-Cortes, Herbert Grueso-Vergara, and Fatima Gomez-Aragon.

All four are believed to be Colombian citizens, but their immigration statuses have not been revealed.

Investigators have linked the group to at least 39 home burglaries, most of which occurred in the Portland metro region.

Incredibly, authorities confirmed all 39 homes “were owned by Asian Americans,” KGW reports.

“As the investigation continues, it is likely that additional charges will be filed, and additional arrests could be made,” TPD explained in a press release.

Vehicles, valuables, cash, and stolen jewelry have been seized from multiple locations this month.
