Federal authorities have confirmed that a suspect defensively shot by an officer during an attack in Virginia is an illegal alien unleashed by the Biden regime.
The harrowing incident unfolded at around 10 a.m. on July 28 in Annandale, located in Fairfax County.
Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) officers arrived at a residence in response to a domestic disturbance involving a man armed with multiple knives.
Officers learned that the suspect, 26-year-old Nehemia Fuentes Banegas, had stabbed himself before fleeing the home on foot.
During an ensuing manhunt, authorities were searching a wooded area when Fuentes Banegas suddenly ambushed an officer and attempted to disarm him, FCPD explained in a press release.
The officer discharged his weapon as another officer simultaneously deployed his taser.
Fuentes Banegas was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and then booked into Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on a charge of Attempted Disarming of a Law Enforcement Officer.
Additionally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer against Fuentes Banegas, but it is unclear if it will be honored by authorities in the sanctuary county.
Fuentes Banegas, a citizen of Honduras, illegally crossed the southern border into Texas in 2022 and was subsequently released into the U.S. by the Biden administration.
Records obtained by Virginians for Safe Communities indicate Fuentes Banegas has a significant criminal history in Fairfax County, but has been repeatedly shielded by sanctuary officials and policies.

“This criminal illegal alien from Honduras attacked a law enforcement officer and attempted to take the officer’s gun,” said Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.
“He has now been charged with attempted disarming of a law enforcement officer. ICE is calling on Governor Abigail Spanberger and her fellow sanctuary politicians to commit to not releasing this dangerous criminal from jail. Governor Spanberger’s sanctuary policies have made the Commonwealth a magnet for illegal alien crime.”
