Federal authorities battled a revolving cast of more than 100 “violent rioters” who wreaked havoc at an immigration detention facility in the Chicago area on Friday.
A mob of open borders radicals descended upon the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Broadview Processing Center, located in the suburbs of the Windy City.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) says vanloads of lawless activists were shuttled to and from the facility starting in the early morning.
The rioters “assaulted law enforcement, threw tear gas cans, slashed tires of cars, blocked the entrance of the building, and trespassed on private property,” DHS explained in a statement that is backed up by footage circulating on social media.

Local officials and candidates apparently took part in the riot, including Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss and Kat Abughazaleh, a radical left-wing journalist running for Congress.

DHS says local law enforcement in the sanctuary jurisdiction led by Gov. JB Pritzker ignored multiple calls for assistance.

Gov. Pritzker recently suggested the U.S. is “essentially” becoming like “Nazi Germany” due to the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
“The violent targeting of law enforcement in Illinois by lawless rioters is despicable and Governor JB Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson must call for it to end. The men and women of ICE put their lives on the line to protect the people of Illinois and all Americans,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“Make no mistake, Democrat politicians like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Tim Walz, and Mayor Bass of Los Angeles are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated dehumanizing and demonization of ICE. From comparisons to the modern-day Nazi gestapo to glorifying rioters, the violent rhetoric of these sanctuary politicians is going to get law enforcement killed. This violence against ICE must end.”
Federal immigration officers have been rounding up extremely dangerous illegal aliens in the sanctuary city of Chicago and surrounding areas since the launch of Operation Midway Blitz on Sept. 8.
