A man from Africa has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman in Idaho.
John Amin Muzamba, 20, was taken into custody in Pocatello on July 23, but the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) just released details about his immigration background to Border Hawk.
Pocatello police launched an investigation into a rape that reportedly unfolded on Nov. 23, 2025, according to court documents reviewed by the Idaho State Journal, which referred to Muzamba as a “local man.”
The victim told investigators she had become extremely intoxicated at a party and was driven home by a friend who helped her into her residence.
She said she went to sleep but had vague memories of Muzamba — reportedly a ‘longtime friend’ of hers — having intercourse with her without her consent.
During a subsequent text message exchange, Muzamba reportedly told the woman he “didn’t mean to hurt” her.
DNA test results later indicated a very strong likelihood that Muzamba had engaged in sexual relations with the victim.
Muzamba was charged with rape and ordered held on $75,000 bond.
“On July 23, 2026, the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office in Idaho arrested John Amin Muzamba, a criminal from Zambia, for rape. He lawfully entered the United States on November 1, 2024, during the Biden administration,” a DHS spokesperson told Border Hawk.
“It is a privilege to be granted a visa or green card to live and study in the United States of America. Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, if you break the law, you will face the consequences.”
Muzamba is due in court for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 4.
