An illegal alien from Mexico has been charged in the shooting death of a woman in Florida this week, authorities say.

The disturbing incident unfolded at around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday night in Palmetto, a city in Manatee County.

The Palmetto Police Department (PPD) responded to shots fired at a residence and encountered two people who directed them to a nearby driveway where they found a deceased woman lying on the ground, WFLA reports.

The woman was identified as 30-year-old Blanca Guzman Bartolon.

The witnesses told officers that Guzman Bartolon had called them to request a pick-up after her boyfriend began acting aggressively towards her while brandishing a firearm.

When the friends arrived at the home, Guzman Bartolon was waiting for them outside.

However, they were immediately confronted by her boyfriend, who began shooting at them, reportedly striking Guzman Bartolon in the head as the witnesses fled on foot.

A manhunt was launched and the suspect was found hiding at the county fairgrounds by a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office helicopter and K-9 team.

He was taken into custody and identified as Cilas Nain Roblero Morales, a 25-year-old Mexican national who is in the U.S. illegally.

Roblero Morales was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder.

“ICE filed a detainer on Cilas Nain Roblero Morales, an illegal alien from Mexico, after his Sept. 22 arrest by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office for attempted murder in the second degree and committing second degree felony with weapon. He entered the United States May 20, 2021 and overstayed his visa,” Immigration and Customs Enforcement told Border Hawk on Friday.

An investigation is ongoing.
