An illegal alien from Honduras has been arrested in Louisiana and charged in connection with horrific sex crimes committed against a child over a period of years, authorities say.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shared exclusive details about the case with Border Hawk, including the suspect’s immigration history.
A female juvenile told detectives with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office that Alexis Mejia-Colon had been raping and sexually assaulting her for two years.
On May 28, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New Orleans special agents and local detectives located Mejia-Colon in the town of Luling and took him into custody.
Mejia-Colon, a 42-year-old resident of St. Rose, was charged with first-degree rape, oral sexual battery, and aggravated crimes against nature.
ICE immediately lodged a detainer against Mejia-Colon, who remains in local custody amid an ongoing investigation.
Mejia-Colon is illegally present in the U.S. but has no prior encounters with federal immigration enforcement.

“Protecting children from exploitation and bringing offenders to justice is one of HSI’s highest priorities,” said acting HSI New Orleans Special Agent in Charge Matt Wright.
“This arrest demonstrates our unwavering commitment to working with our law enforcement partners to safeguard our communities and bring offenders to justice.”
