Guatemalan Illegal Arrested for Raping Multiple Children in Georgia

An illegal alien from Guatemala has been arrested for sexually assaulting four children in Georgia, authorities say.

On Thursday, the Valdosta Police Department (VPD) announced a slew of disturbing charges against 36-year-old Nery Antonio Gonzalez.

Last month, two children under the age of 14 told a family member that a man they knew had sexually abused them on multiple occasions.

During an investigation, VPD detectives identified two more victims, both under the age of 14, as well.

Authorities believe Gonzalez raped or sexually assaulted his victims over a span of approximately four years.

On March 14, VPD obtained arrest warrants and took Gonzalez into custody at his residence.

The Guatemalan was booked into Lowndes County Jail on the following felony charges:

  • 5 counts of child molestation
  • 3 counts of rape
  • 4 counts of aggravated sexual battery
  • 4 counts of sexual battery on a child under the age of 16
  • 2 counts of aggravated child molestations
  • 3 counts of cruelty to a child in the 1st degree

VPD confirmed Gonzalez is in the country illegally, but his immigration history remains unclear at this time.

“There are no words to describe the heartbreak of the trauma that these children faced and will live with for the rest of their lives,” VPD Chief Leslie Manahan stated.

“I am thankful that two of these victims were brave enough to let someone know, which resulted in the arrest of this predator. This was great teamwork between our agency and our community partners, to ensure these victims do not have to see this monster again.”

An investigation is ongoing.
