An illegal alien from Guatemala is facing murder charges after his girlfriend and a female roommate were found stabbed to death at their residence in the sanctuary state of Washington, according to reports.
The shocking incident unfolded in Burien on Sept. 8, but new details about the case and suspect were just made public.
The King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) was called after an injured man was found laying in the grass outside an apartment complex, Fox 13 reports.
The man, identified as 29-year-old Marvin Ortiz Montecinos, was transported to a local hospital and treated for minor stab wounds.
Deputies followed a trail of blood up to a third-floor apartment where they discovered the bodies of Victoria Aparicio Cruz, 26, and Yaneth Gomez-Hernandez, 32.
Investigators learned all three people had lived together in the apartment and that Cruz and Montecinos had been in a romantic relationship.
Montecinos initially told authorities a black male had broken into their residence while they slept, stabbed both women, then attacked him before fleeing the scene, according to court documents.
However, investigators found significant inconsistencies in his story and discovered text messages indicating Cruz had broken up with Montecinos roughly an hour before the brutal rampage.
Prosecutors say Montecinos stabbed Cruz more than 20 times and then stabbed Gomez-Hernandez more than 40 times when she tried to intervene.
A bloody knife was found buried outside the building.
“Simply put, this crime was horrific,” prosecutors said.

Montecinos was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and ordered held on $10 million bail.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer against him and confirmed he is a Guatemalan illegal alien with a wife and children in his home country, along with a sibling who fled from the Seattle area back to Guatemala after the killing.
Gomez-Hernandez was also a citizen of Guatemala, although her immigration status remains unclear.
She leaves behind a 10-year-old son who still lives in Guatemala, according to a GoFundMe campaign page.
An investigation is ongoing.
