A woman arrested for killing a man with her pickup truck during a DUI hit-and-run in Tennessee may be in the country illegally, according to reports.
The shocking tragedy unfolded on Monday night in Antioch, a neighborhood on the outskirts of Nashville.
Charles Fountain, a 65-year-old truck driver, had parked his rig at a TA Travel Center and was riding his electric scooter back from a nearby dollar store when he was struck by a Toyota Tundra, News Channel 5 reports.
The driver of the pickup continued onward, dragging Fountain’s scooter nearly 1,000 feet and then fleeing the scene.
On Wednesday, the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) announced they found the Toyota abandoned at an apartment complex.
Hours later, MNPD located and arrested Karla Guadalupe Armendariz, 25, and charged her with vehicular homicide by intoxication, leaving the scene of a crash involving death, and driving without a license.

Armendariz reportedly told investigators she drank half a dozen beers and took a prescription medication prior to the collision and had “blacked out.”
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer against Armendariz, indicating she may be in the country illegally.
