An illegal alien has been arrested in Louisiana amid an ongoing investigation into the death of a female relative whose body was found near her burned out car, according to authorities.

On Monday, the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office (SLPSO) was alerted that a young woman identified as Jorlany Osario Benitez had gone missing.

Benitez’s boyfriend and friends tracked her cell phone to a remote area near LA Highway 10 where they found what remained of her vehicle, which had been torched in a field.

They then encountered a Hispanic male walking along the highway nearby.

“The responding deputy came upon Irving Cisneros Arguelles, who had attempted to discard the phone belonging to Jorlany. St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives began the investigation, which resulted in Arguelles leading deputies to the Eunice City Lake,” Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz explained in a statement.

Arguelles told authorities he dumped Benitez’s body in the lake, but after an intensive search on Tuesday, her remains were eventually located in a wooded area near the burned out car, KATC reports.

Arguelles has been charged with simple arson but could face additional charges as the investigation continues.

“He will be detained until Homeland Security and I.C.E. can be notified, as he is an undocumented foreign national,” Sheriff Guidroz stated on Tuesday.

Authorities continue to catch dangerous foreign criminals in the U.S.
