A group of young men who are in the U.S. illegally have been arrested in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old victim in Florida last month, authorities say.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) just released information on four suspects apprehended over the weekend.
On July 16, JSO officers responded to reports of a shooting at Jacksonville Drew Park where they found found Marvin Oporta Garcia suffering from several gunshot wounds.
Oporta Garcia succumbed to his injuries before he could receive medical treatment.
JSO arrested two suspects on Saturday and two more on Sunday.
They have been identified as follows:
- Jose Hernandez Bermudez, 16
- Kleber Martinez, 17
- Daniel Ramirez Mato, 18
- Russell Oliva Reyes, 21
“Investigators discovered all four suspects are in the United States without legal immigration status. Martinez and Oliva Reyes are from Honduras, Ramirez Mato is from Cuba, and Hernandez Bermudez is from Nicaragua,” JSO explained in a statement.
Four people, including three teenagers, are in custody in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old at a Southside park last month. All four suspects were in the country illegally.

The suspects were booked into Duval County Jail and at least two of them (Ramirez Mato and Oliva Reyes) have been charged with second-degree murder.
Federal immigration authorities have also been notified.

JSO identified Oporta Garcia as a “legal refugee” of unspecific origin.
