Texas authorities recovered a body from the Rio Grande following a dangerous smuggling attempt that ended in tragedy this week.
The bust unfolded on April 1 in Laredo.
A human smuggler led Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) troopers on a high-speed pursuit that ended with their vehicle “splashing down into the Rio Grande.”
“The driver and three subjects fled back to Mexico, while two individuals were rescued from the river,” TxDPS spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez explained.
On Friday, a TxDPS Tactical Marine Unit recovered the body of a male who drowned during the incident.
No details about the victim were made public.

On Friday, troopers pulled over an SUV transporting three illegal aliens from Honduras.
The driver fled on foot and remained at large hours later, according to the latest available update.
