MS-13 Killer “The Witch” Arrested by ICE in Sanctuary California

A cold-blooded killer from El Salvador has been caught by federal authorities in the sanctuary state of California.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of 35-year-old David Antonio Aviles Perez in San Diego last Thursday.

Aviles Perez, also known as “La Bruja” (The Witch), is an MS-13 gang member convicted of homicide in his home country in 2014, the New York Post reports.

He was sentenced to 20 years in prison for executing a gang rival in El Salvador, but apparently fled to the U.S., prompting Salvadoran authorities to issue a warrant for his arrest.

It is unclear where or when Aviles Perez slipped into the country, but he was convicted of exhibiting a deadly weapon in 2023 after he swung a machete at another man in Monterey, California.

Aviles Perez was subsequently set loose by officials in the sanctuary state and allowed to roam free until ICE San Diego took him into custody last week.

DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis slammed California’s sanctuary laws, saying the Salvadoran’s release “back into California neighborhoods put American lives at risk.”

Aviles Perez remains in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.

The State Department designated Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) a Foreign Terrorist Organization last year.
