An illegal alien from Mexico wanted for more than a dozen sexual crimes involving minors was apprehended in New York near the northern border, authorities say.
On Wednesday, agents from U.S. Border Patrol’s (USBP) Wellesley Island Station were requested to assist the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) in the apprehension of Lucino Hernandez-Bautista, 25, at a home in Lowville.
Hernandez-Bautista was wanted on 10 felony charges and five misdemeanors related to child sex crimes, including “uploading and downloading sexually explicit photos/videos with a 13-year-old female,” authorities say.
He was taken into custody after he was found hiding in an attic at the residence, local media reports.
Following his arrest, USBP discovered the Mexican was removed from the U.S. in 2023 after being charged or convicted of a previous sex crime offense, but he apparently reentered the country at an undisclosed date and location.
In addition to facing a slew of child pornography charges, Hernandez-Bautista is also under investigation for possible sexual abuse of two 13-year-old victims, LCSO announced.

“Our agents remain committed to protecting the border and upholding the law,” said Deputy Patrol Agent in Charge David Sowards.
“The individual was wanted for sex crimes involving minors, and we will continue assisting our law enforcement partners to ensure public safety.”
