Salvadoran Illegal Charged With Strangling Infant Sister to Death in Virginia Sanctuary County

An infant has died after allegedly being strangled with a charging cable by her illegal alien brother in a Virginia sanctuary county.

The shocking incident unfolded in Loudoun County on Wednesday.

Leesburg police were called to a residence for a report of an unresponsive baby at around 10 a.m. that morning.

They found the 8-month-old girl with a white cable around her neck and she was rushed to a local hospital.

The victim’s brother, 21-year-old Alvaro Mejia-Ayala, fled the apartment before officers arrived but was located and taken into custody roughly five hours later.

A friend of the suspect told Fox 5 that Mejia-Ayala called him requesting a ride, claiming he had been “playing with his sister and may have killed her.”

The victim fought for her life for days but succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday.

Let me be clear, this was not an accident,” Leesburg Police Chief Thea Pirnat stated during a press conference. “A child was murdered in a deliberate act.”

Mejia-Ayala was initially charged with strangulation but more charges are now expected.

On Monday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed Mejia-Ayala is an illegal alien from El Salvador.

“Alvaro Mejia-Ayala is an illegal Salvadoran alien recently arrested and charged with felony strangulation of his infant sister in Loudoun County, Virginia. ICE Washington, D.C. lodged a detainer on Mejia with the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center Sept. 17,” ICE told Border Hawk.

“Mejia was previously arrested Aug. 19, 2024, for reckless driving, however, he was released before a detainer could be lodged.”

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) presented additional information about Mejia-Ayala’s immigration background on Tuesday, revealing that he entered the U.S. in 2016 as part of a “family unit” and was released into the country by the Obama regime.

In October, the Biden regime marked Mejia-Ayala as a “non-enforcement priority” and dismissed his immigration case, allowing him to remain indefinitely in the U.S.

“What kind of sick monster strangles a defenseless, innocent baby girl with a charging cord? This barbarism has no place in the U.S.,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

“ICE lodged an immigration detainer to ensure this heinous criminal is not released on U.S. streets. President Trump and Secretary Noem have been clear: criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the United States. We pray for this precious baby.”
