An illegal alien wanted for heinous child sex crimes has been captured in one of the wealthiest cities in the country, federal authorities say.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) just announced the apprehension of Jose Saul Canas-Guandique on Aug. 31 in Falls Church, Virginia.
Canas-Guandique, 49, was arrested in March 2024 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and charged with felony sexual assault on a child by a person of trust, felony solicitation of child prostitution, and felony use of the internet to lure a child with intent to exploit.
Despite being in the U.S. illegally and facing such disturbing charges, Canas-Guandique was apparently released from custody.
More than two years later, he was tracked down in Loudon County, a jurisdiction that shields criminal illegals from immigration authorities.
Canas-Guandique legally entered the U.S. from El Salvador in 2004 with permission to remain in the country until June 2005.
He failed to depart on time and remained in the U.S. illegally for more than two decades.
Canas-Guandique remains in ICE custody pending criminal prosecution and removal proceedings.
