A male citizen of El Salvador wanted for raping a minor was arrested this weekend following a pursuit and skirmish with police in the sanctuary state of Massachusetts, authorities say.
The bust unfolded at around 4 a.m. on Friday in Milford, a town in Worcester County.
Detectives with the Milford Police Department (MPD), working alongside U.S. Marshals and Massachusetts State Police, tracked down 29-year-old Manuel Umana Solorzano at his residence.
Authorities observed Umana Solorzano exit the home at around 5:40 p.m. and moved to take him into custody.
The Salvadoran fled on foot, eventually entering the backyard of another residence where he “turned toward a detective, assumed a fighting stance, and reached for his waistband,” MPD explained in a press release.
Detectives used a taser to neutralize Umana Solorzano and arrest him.
He was arraigned on the following charges:
- Statutory Rape of Child, Five Year Age Difference
- Rape of Child With Force
- Lascivious Pose/Exhibit Child in Nude
- Indecent Assault and Battery on Child Under 14
- Reckless Endangerment of Child
- Photograph Sexual or Intimate Parts of Child
- Resisting Arrest
“Someone who is suspected of taking advantage of children will find no quarter in Milford. There will be no shelter, no safe haven, no sanctuary for people who are suspected of such crimes against children,” Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino said.
“My sincerest thanks to the Massachusetts State Police and the US Marshals for coordinating with our detectives in apprehending this suspected child predator.”

Umana Solorzano’s immigration status remains unclear.
