Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) slammed a county councilwoman for interfering in the arrest of a dangerous illegal alien in Maryland this week.
ICE officers conducted a targeted enforcement operation on Monday in Hyattsville, MD.
They apprehended Bernabe Alexander Molina Sandoval, a criminal illegal alien from El Salvador with prior convictions for aggravated DWI and multiple traffic violations.
Molina was previously removed from the United States in 2009 and illegally reentered at an unknown location and unknown date.
During the arrest, an individual identified as Montgomery County Councilwoman Kristen Mink ignored officers’ repeated requests to maintain a safe distance, putting herself, the officers, and Molina at risk.
“I told you about that s**t. Get away. Didn’t I tell you about that? Get away,” an agent can be heard telling Mink.

“Her reckless actions are unacceptable and dangerous,” ICE told Border Hawk in a statement.
“ICE officers are seeing more than a 1,000% increase in assaults while performing their sworn duty to uphold federal law. This is a direct result of irresponsible interference from bystanders who think they can obstruct law enforcement. ICE officers risk their lives every day to keep our communities safe. When individuals choose to interfere, they are not helping anyone, they are endangering lives and undermining public safety.”
Councilwoman Mink shared her side of the story on social media the following day.
“Yesterday morning at 7:25 am, ICE agents that have been ripping loved ones from their families across Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties crossed a parking lot to get in my face, pull me by the arm, and attempt to grab my phone. One of the vehicles present was amongst those recently idling directly in front of an MCPS school during morning drop-off. This morning, I saw them putting someone into a vehicle, and I started filming. They told me I needed to mind my own business, that I needed to leave,” Mink wrote on Facebook.
“Let me be clear: The terrorizing of our communities is my business. It’s all of our business. We have the first amendment right to film. And we’re not going anywhere. I encourage everyone to be well versed on your rights and your neighbors’ rights, to consider all levers you may have to harden your workplace against efforts ICE may make to enter without a judicial warrant, and to save local support hotlines in your phone now.”
