An illegal alien from India has been captured months after a deadly tractor-trailer crash in the sanctuary state of California, authorities say.
On Sept. 1, police in Moab, Utah, say they pulled over a speeding big rig driver identified as Chamkaur Singh.
Officers discovered Singh was wanted in connection with a multi-fatality collision that took place on March 29 in Ontario, California.
On that day, California Highway Patrol was responding to a two-vehicle crash when a Kenworth semi reportedly driven by Singh rear-ended slowing traffic, triggering a seven-vehicle pileup that left two people dead and several more injured, according to local media.
Singh reportedly fled the scene and has remained on the loose ever since.
The Moab Police Department has released footage of Singh’s arrest after officers learned he had a warrant for vehicular manslaughter.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has issued a detainer against Singh with the Grand County Jail.
Singh illegally crossed the southern border into Arizona in August 2021, but was released by the Biden regime.
Singh was issued a Commercial Driver’s License by California and has racked up strikes on his record for improper lane or location, following too closely, and speeding, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
“This illegal alien from India is accused of causing a semi-truck crash that killed two people in California,” said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. “Due to the Biden Administration’s open borders and Gavin Newsom’s sanctuary policies, this criminal was released into our country and granted a commercial driver’s license.”
“Despite having three convictions on his driving record, his CDL is still active. DHS is calling on Gavin Newsom and other sanctuary politicians to eliminate these deadly sanctuary policies that give handouts to illegal aliens at the cost of American lives. Illegal aliens have no right to be in our country or on our roadways.”
