Federal authorities say they arrested a West Virginia resident after he called Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and threatened to shoot officers.
ICE just announced the recent apprehension of Cody Smith at his residence in Clarksburg.
“According to the HSI investigation, on Jan. 16, Smith called the ICE Tip Line and threatened to kill any ICE agents he saw in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Smith continued a vulgarity-laden tirade that referenced ICE and President Trump,” ICE explained in a press release.
During an ensuing investigation, U.S. Secret Service located Smith’s Instagram page where they found a video of him making the call on Jan. 16.
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), working alongside federal and state partners, executed a search warrant at Smith’s home and took him into custody on Jan. 22.
“The safety and security of law enforcement personnel is our highest priority at Homeland Security Investigations,” said HSI Washington, D.C. acting Special Agent in Charge Eric Weindorf.
“HSI is committed to actively pursuing anyone who threatens the brave agents and officers who protect our communities. We will work tirelessly to investigate these threats and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
Radical leftists have become increasingly violent in their resistance to immigration law enforcement.
