Several human smuggling suspects were arrested after a high-speed chase and armed carjacking in West Texas this week, authorities say.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) just released aerial footage of the pursuit, which unfolded near El Paso on Thursday.
A CBP Air and Marine Operations (AMO) helicopter crew, working alongside other federal agencies and the Texas Department of Public Safety pursued a sedan traveling at over 100 miles per hour on a busy highway in the desert.
The vehicle lost a tire after hitting a disabling device, forcing the driver to pull over near an exit ramp.
Multiple occupants bailed out and continued fleeing on foot.

One of the suspects then carjacked a civilian at gunpoint before authorities pulled that vehicle over and arrested him.
Other occupants of the sedan were also captured, although a CBP AMO crew member indicated some had managed to continue running for some time.
It is unclear if any of the suspects were in the U.S. illegally.
“Great work by our El Paso Air Branch Black Hawk crew to take down this smuggling attempt!” CBP AMO stated.
The Trump administration continues to maintain a historically secure southern border, although illegal crossings are on the rise in some sectors.
