A known gang member with a slew of active felony warrants was arrested during a dangerous drug smuggling bust on a Texas highway, according to authorities.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) recently released footage and details about the incident, which unfolded last month in the Rio Grande Valley.
U.S. Border Patrol agents were pursuing a black BMW but lost track of the vehicle before it was located by TxDPS troopers on I-69 in Cameron County.

The driver continued to evade at a high rate of speed on the busy highway, forcing authorities to take drastic action to stop him.
A trooper used his patrol car to perform a PIT maneuver on the fleeing sedan, sending it crashing into a concrete barrier in the median and then careening across three lanes as authorities in SUVs shielded other motorists from possible collisions.
“The driver, Michael Anthony Montoya, a Valluco gang member, was arrested. Montoya had three active felony warrants for vehicle theft,” TxDPS explained in a statement.
Montoya was initially charged with evading arrest with a vehicle.
