A group of illegal aliens managed to reach the California shore during a maritime smuggling attempt this week.

The incursion unfolded on Tuesday in San Diego.

U.S. authorities detected a panga-style vessel inbound from Mexico under cover of darkness.

Border Patrol agents were dispatched to intercept the watercraft, which made landfall near Scripps Pier in La Jolla.

Four individuals disembarked from the vessel and fled on foot, but agents successfully captured them all before they could escape.

They were identified as three Mexican nationals and a Guatemalan citizen, none of whom had authorization to enter the U.S.

The vessel was seized and the aliens were transported to the Imperial Beach Border Patrol Station for processing.

“Maritime smuggling organizations continue to place individuals in dangerous situations while attempting to circumvent our nation’s border security measures,” said San Diego Sector Chief Patrol Agent Justin De La Torre.

“Our agents remain vigilant along the coastline, and this incident highlights the importance of rapid response and coordination to address maritime smuggling attempts.”
