Authorities are searching for a previously-deported illegal alien and his 14-year-old daughter after a baby believed to belong to both of them was found deceased in the sanctuary state of California last month.
On the morning of Aug. 1, the body of ‘Baby Angelita’ was found on a rural road approximately 20 miles north of Monterey.
The tiny victim showed signs of traumatic injuries, authorities say.
Investigators believe the baby’s mother, a 14-year-old girl, birthed the child there and abandoned her to die.
Sergio Galvez Perez, 38, has been identified as the biological father of both Baby Angelita and her 14-year-old mother, Monterey County Sheriff Tina Nieto explained during a press conference on Monday.
Galvez Perez allegedly conceived the child with his own daughter while sexually abusing her when she was just 13 years of age, authorities say.
Warrants have been issued for the teen (murder) and for Galvez Perez, who is facing charges of incest, unlawful sexual intercourse, lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14, and other crimes.
The teen’s mother, Ofelia Garcia Ortega, was arrested of suspicion of child endangerment and released on bail.
Authorities say Galvez Perez is concealing the child from law enforcement while they are on the run.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed with Border Hawk that Galvez Perez is an illegal alien with multiple prior deportations and a lengthy criminal history in the U.S.
“ICE arrested Galvez-Perez on November 29, 2007, in Quincy, Florida. ICE removed him from the country on January 22, 2008,” DHS told us. “On June 18, 2016, Border Patrol encountered Galvez-Perez near San Ysidro, after he illegally reentered after being removed – a felony. He was issued a final order of removal later that day, and ICE removed him from the country.”
“On July 11, 2023, ICE issued a detainer for Sergio Galvez-Perez, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico, with Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office following his arrest for driving under the influence. The detainer was not honored. His criminal history includes multiple counts of operating a vehicle without a license, driving under the influence, hit and run with damage to property, battery – domestic violence, and aggravated assault.”
Anyone who encounters Galvez-Perez is urged to contact their local law enforcement agency immediately.
