An illegal alien from El Salvador is a facing a slew of charges following a fatal crash that devastated a family in the sanctuary state of Maryland last weekend.
The horrifying tragedy unfolded on Saturday night in Montgomery County.
A Toyota sedan carrying a married couple and their two daughters was traveling southbound on I-270 when the driver of a Ford Mustang barreled up the highway against traffic and slammed into their vehicle head-on, Fox 5 reports.
Musammat Shamima Begum, 46, and her daughter Areebah Jahin, 23, were both killed.
Begum’s husband and their 8-year-old daughter were hospitalized with serious injuries.
The driver of the Mustang, identified as 32-year-old Jose Antonio Caballero-Nolasco, was treated for injuries before being transferred to the Montgomery County Detention Center.
Authorities say he smelled strongly of alcohol and that they found a significant quantity of open and unopen beers inside his vehicle.

Caballero-Nolasco was charged with two counts of gross negligent manslaughter, two counts of homicide by motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, and life-threatening injury by a motor vehicle.
Additionally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer against Caballero-Nolasco with officials in the sanctuary county.
“This illegal alien has been charged after a drunk-driving crash that killed a woman and her daughter and injured two others, including an 8-year-old girl, in Montgomery County, Maryland,” said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin.
“This tragedy was completely avoidable. Musammat Shamima Begum and Areebah Jahin should still be alive. ICE has lodged a detainer asking officials in Maryland to commit to not releasing this killer back onto our streets. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their family, and for a swift recovery for those who were injured.”
Caballero-Nolasco reportedly told his attorney he has lived in the U.S. for approximately 10 years.
