Boat Carrying 21 Illegals Intercepted Near Newport Beach

SHARE:

A vessel carrying nearly two dozen illegal aliens was intercepted by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) this week near Newport Beach, California.

The incident unfolded just after 7 p.m. on Thursday night in waters off the upscale enclave in Orange County.

A USCG cutter crew on patrol detected a 34-foot vessel behaving suspiciously outside Newport Harbor and initiated an interdiction.

After boarding the vessel, Guardsmen encountered more than 20 aliens who were illegally present in U.S. territory.

“Of the 21 migrants taken into custody, 18 were determined to be of Mexican nationality, two were identified as Uzbek nationality, and one of Russian nationality,” USCG explained in a statement.

All 21 illegals were turned over to Customs and Border Protection.
