An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer was injured during the arrest of an illegal alien from Guatemala with a lengthy rap sheet spanning 15 years, authorities say.
On Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the apprehension of Roberto Carlos Munoz in Minnesota.
Munoz is a convicted child sex predator who has also been arrested for domestic assault and driving without a license on multiple occasions.
During a traffic stop in Bloomington, MN, an ICE officer was interacting with Munoz when the Guatemalan put his car in drive and attempted to flee.
The officer’s arm was caught inside the vehicle and he was dragged some 50 yards down the road.
Munoz was apprehended and taken into federal custody.
The officer was hospitalized but is expected to make a full recovery.

“This illegal alien has been committing violent crimes in the U.S. for nearly 15 years. He is a convicted child sex offender who has a rap sheet that includes an arrest for domestic assault and multiple driving offenses,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“Under Governor Tim Walz, this sicko was living in Minnesota without consequence. Instead of comparing ICE law enforcement to the Gestapo, Governor Walz should be thanking our brave law enforcement for arresting these violent criminals.”
Munoz first entered the U.S. at an unknown location and date before being arrested in 2010 for an unspecified offense.
ICE lodged a detainer against him in 2013 but there is no indication he has ever been deported.
Authorities continue to catch dangerous foreign criminals in the U.S.
