Illegal Alien Arrested for Hurling Rock Through Window of Border Patrol Vehicle in Chicago

An illegal alien with a significant criminal history was apprehended after he shattered the window of a federal vehicle in Chicago this week, authorities say.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the arrest Santo Joel Gonzalez-Rodriguez on Tuesday.

Gonzalez-Rodriguez is accused of throwing a rock through the rear door of a BMW SUV being used by U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) agents in the Windy City.

A photograph published by DHS shows that the back window of the vehicle was apparently shattered by the projectile.

Gonzalez-Rodriguez is a criminal illegal alien from Mexico with a rap sheet that includes charges for domestic battery, aggravated assault, burglary, and domestic violence, DHS says.

“During enforcement operations, an illegal alien from Mexico chose violence, shattering an agent’s vehicle window. Then came the predictable part: a short, unimpressive attempt to flee. It ended exactly how it always does, with the subject in cuffs and in custody,” stated USBP Commander Gregory Bovino.

“This illegal alien found out attacking Border Patrol isn’t in his self interest. Unlike Louisiana, a state that doesn’t allow attacks on police, Illinois under Pritzer, encourages it. DHS will continue to arrest these criminals, even if Illinois won’t.”

Commander Bovino has returned to the sanctuary state of Illinois to continue overseeing Operation Midway Blitz, which DHS launched in September.
