Mexican Illegal Arrested for Torching Mobile Home, Killing Two People in Phoenix

“Detectives worked relentlessly in investigating this incident. After processing the scene and conducting multiple interviews, investigators identify, locate and apprehend the suspect, 22-year-old Joel Hernandez Anaya. Joel was transported to Phoenix Police Headquarters where he was interviewed by investigators,” the Phoenix Police Department explained in a press release.

“In his post Miranda interview, Joel made incriminating statements and was booked into Maricopa County Jail on multiple felony charges to include, two counts of Reckless Manslaughter, a class 2 felony and two counts of attempted Manslaughter, a class 3 felony.”

The two victims were identified as Sergio Rosales Zavala, 32, and David Hernandez Estrada, 38.

Court documents reviewed by Fox 10 indicate Hernandez Anaya is a Mexican citizen illegally present in the U.S.

Hernandez Anaya reportedly said he had heavily abused cocaine and methamphetamines throughout the night prior to the fire.

“Mr. Hernandez admitted that he poured gasoline on a pile of clothes inside the trailer that created the fire that led to the two victims’ deaths,” a prosecutor reportedly stated in court.
