An illegal alien who was previously removed from the U.S. has been arrested and charged for molesting an underage girl in Florida, authorities say.
On Wednesday, the Stuart Police Department (SPD) announced the apprehension of 47-year-old Apolinar Lopez Honorato.
An investigation was launched after SPD was called on Saturday by a woman who said her 14-year-old daughter had been “touched inappropriately” by the suspect.
Honorato and the victim’s family were living in the same house but renting separate spaces there, local media reports.

Honorato was taken into custody this week and charged with lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 16 years of age.
“Additionally, investigators discovered that Mr. Honorato is in the United States illegally and has been deported in the past,” SPD explained in a press release.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been notified of Honorato’s arrest, but his nationality and deportation history remain unclear at this time.
