Trump Admin Controls Most Secure Southern Border Since 1970

U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) just logged the fewest apprehensions at the southwest land border in 55 years — in spite of total mayhem orchestrated by the Biden regime.

On Tuesday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced preliminary data for Fiscal Year 2025, which came to a close on Sept. 30.

A total of 237,565 illegal crossers were apprehended at the southern border in FY25, nearly three-quarters of whom were busted under President Biden.

Just over 172,000 apprehensions took place between Oct. 1, 2024, and President Trump’s first day in office on Jan. 20, 2025.

During the subsequent 254 days, the Trump administration recorded a mere 65,539 apprehensions as illegal crossings fell off a cliff.

Average annual apprehensions for the previous four fiscal years eclipsed 1.85 million.

In 1970, apprehensions topped 201,700, indicating FY26 could shatter the previous record low if trends continue.

In September, nationwide encounters fell to another historic low of just 26,000 — 191 fewer than in August, the prior benchmark.

There was an average of 279 apprehensions per day at the southwest border in September, “fewer in an entire day now than in just two hours under the last administration, and 95 percent lower than the last administration’s daily average of 5,110 from February 2021 through December 2024,” DHS stated in a press release.

Additionally, USBP released zero illegal crossers at the southwest border for the fifth month in a row.

Full data for the month of September and FY25 will be published in the coming days.

“We have had the most secure border in American history and our end of year numbers prove it. We have shattered multiple records this year and once again we have broken a new record with the lowest number of Southwest border apprehensions in 55 years,” said DHS Sec. Kristi Noem.

“Under President Trump, we have empowered and supported our law enforcement to do their job and they have delivered.”
