U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) apprehended two illegal aliens convicted of heinous crimes against children in remote areas of Arizona last week.
On Thursday, USBP revealed agents made the separate busts just hours apart in Tucson Sector.
The first arrest occurred in the desert near San Miguel, roughly 80 miles southwest of Tucson.
Agents from Three Points Station caught a pair of illegals and while running background checks, they discovered German Miranda Tapia, a previously-deported Mexican citizen, had a slew of convictions in Connecticut.
“These included felonies for intercourse with kin less than 16 years old and for risk of injury to a child,” Customs and Border Protection (CBP) explained in a press release.
The next day, a USBP motorcycle unit from Casa Grande Station encountered Jose Portillo-Ventura, a Honduran national with multiple felony convictions in the state of Kansas, including rape of a child less than 14 years of age and aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

Both men now face federal charges for re-entry of a removed aggravated felon followed by removal from the country.
“I am proud of our agents for keeping these dangerous individuals out of Arizona communities,” stated Tucson Sector Chief Parol Agent Sean McGoffin.
“This is a stark reminder of why border security is national security.”
