Investigators have identified the bodies of two teens who were found dead inside the landing gear of a plane that landed in Florida earlier this year, according to reports.
On Jan. 6, a pair of deceased males were discovered within an exterior compartment of a JetBlue aircraft during a post-flight inspection at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
The plane had just arrived from John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City, but made a stop the day before in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, NBC Miami reported.
After a months-long investigation involving ‘extensive DNA testing,’ the Broward County Sheriff’s Office announced the stowaways have been identified as Jeik Aniluz Lusi, 18, and Elvis Borques Castillo, 16, both of whom were citizens of the Dominican Republic.
Castillo’s mother told NBC Miami that her son had hopped in a car bound for their local airport on Jan. 4 and she had not heard from him since.

Authorities are still trying to determine how the teens managed to access the aircraft.
Cause of death in both cases was determined to be asphyxiation due to lack of oxygen.
