U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) crews have been busy intercepting prospective illegal aliens and returning them to their Caribbean islands of origin.

Last Tuesday, an overloaded sailboat carrying more than 130 Haitian nationals was interdicted approximately 50 miles southeast of Marathon, FL.

A Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Operations (AMO) aircrew spotted the vessel as it was sailing between Cuba and the Bahamas, and a USCG crew was dispatched to head it off.

On Monday, 132 Haitians were repatriated aboard USCG Cutter Escanaba following processing and welfare checks.

“The Coast Guard will continue to prioritize strengthening our domestic integrity and disrupting attempts to enter the United States illegally by sea,” stated Lt. Zane Carter, a Coast Guard District Seven enforcement officer.

“We are steadfast in our mission to safeguard America by securing our maritime borders.”

On Friday, USCG Cutter Manowar interdicted a 25-foot makeshift vessel carrying Cuban nationals around 15 miles southwest of Gun Cay, Bahamas.

USCG shared footage of the bust, which unfolded in darkness.

On Tuesday, USCG repatriated 16 Cuban aliens aboard Cutter Raymond Evan.

Also on Tuesday, USCG announced plans to transfer “20 aliens of multiple nationalities” to the Bahamas after a maritime smuggling operation was foiled near Miami Beach over the weekend.

Additionally, U.S. Border Patrol Chief Mike Banks announced that a convicted rapist was arrested when USCG intercepted carrying 12 illegal aliens at an undisclosed location on Sunday.
