A previously deported illegal alien is facing a slew of charges after allegedly killing a Texas man in a drunk driving crash then resisting arrest, according to reports.
The tragedy unfolded on the evening of Oct. 13 in Bastrop County.
Grayson Davis, 29, was driving on FM 535 when his vehicle was struck by another driven by a suspect identified as 35-year-old Jorge Peralta.
Peralta fled the scene on foot and then resisted Texas Department of Public Safety troopers attempting to apprehend him, according to court documents reviewed by CBS Austin.

Davis was airlifted to Dell Seton Hospital in Austin where he battled for his life before succumbing to his injuries three days later.
“We knew he was going to have to fight really hard to make it through,” said Ashley Davis, Grayson’s mother. “God had other plans for him.”
Peralta, who reportedly confessed to consuming five beers before getting behind the wheel, has been charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest, and intoxication manslaughter.
Additionally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer against Peralta, whose nationality remains unclear.
“Grayson’s life was cut short by an illegal immigrant who was driving drunk—someone who had no right to be here and who had been deported twice and previously arrested for a DUI in Kansas before this senseless act. This should not have happened, and we cannot allow tragedies like this to continue,” Texas State Rep. Stan Gerdes wrote in a statement.

The Davis family is urging lawmakers to tighten border policies to prevent further victimization of American families by illegal aliens.
“I’m begging that someone watching understands that this cannot continue. It’s not okay,” Ashley said.
There are currently three illegal aliens being held at Bastrop County Jail on intoxication manslaughter charges, according to Rep. Gerdes.
