5,000 Illegals Arrested in Los Angeles Since June

Federal authorities have apprehended thousands of illegal aliens in the Los Angeles area since June.

On Tuesday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the 5,000th arrest since Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) launched major operations in the sanctuary city in early June.

Gustavo Garcia-Miranda, a previously-deported Mexican citizen with a felony conviction for drug trafficking, was the 5,000th illegal alien nabbed in less than three months in the City of Angels.

“That’s 5,000 criminal illegal aliens, gang members, child predators, and murderers taken off our streets. Precious lives saved. Families protected. American taxpayers spared the cost of their crimes AND the burden of their benefits,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem stated.

“THANK YOU to our brave law enforcement officers. Make no mistake: if you are here illegally, we will find you, arrest you, and send you back. This is just the beginning.”

Senior USBP Agent Gregory K. Bovino, who is serving as commander of the siege of sanctuary state California, heralded the achievement.

“Now for the next 5000. We are still here!” he wrote on social media.

Immigration enforcement operations in Los Angeles have been going full-tilt all summer in Los Angeles, despite riotsprotests, and attacks on agents and federal property.

DHS has partially attributed the stunning drop in illegal border crossings to the show of force in California’s largest city.

“In less than a month since we started LA enforcement operations, apprehensions and gotaways at the Southern border halved. The world is hearing our message: If you come here illegally, we will find you, arrest you, and deport you,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated in June.

“We will not be deterred by the rioters and politicians in our mission to secure America and its border. Migrants are turning back because they know the reality is they will ultimately leave in handcuffs.”

Last week, the Trump administration also revealed that more than 4,500 illegals have been captured in the state of Georgia since January.
